Museum enthusiasts welcomed as NMP calls for volunteers

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Museum enthusiasts are welcome to join the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) in its quest to preserve and protect the country’s culture and heritage as it brings back its Museum Volunteers Program.

NMP announced the comeback of the program on Wednesday, capping off the International Museum Day.

The program is for people who are interested in a variety of museum-related subjects and events.

Volunteers from the museum will help with numerous NMP events, while also learning about museum collections, exhibitions, and infrastructure.

Interested applicants may send their letter of intent with attached CV to visitorsandvolunteers@nationalmuseum.gov.ph, or call Francine España, Administrative Officer IV at 8298-1100 Local 1032 for further inquiries.

Aside from the call for museum volunteers, the Catanauan Dagger was shown to the public for the first time. One of the most extraordinary funerary objects discovered in a jar burial site in 2017 on a beach facing Marinduque.

NMP joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Museum Day on May 18, 2022 with the theme, “The Power of Museums.” (PIA-NCR)
