CEZA modernizes Port Irene, establishes new facilities

SANTA ANA, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) has introduced major improvements in the Port Irene, the gateway for raw materials, goods and finished products from the Cagayan Freeport in this town.

Leonardo Cruz, officer-in-charge, said the port's facilities are undertaking development activities to improve the eco-zone's importation activities including the construction of a facility office, truck scale, truck wash lane, riprap and laydown area.

"Included also is the installation of hybrid solar-wind lamps from Port Irene archway to the laydown facility," Cruz said.

There were also 12 units of warehouse and warehouse offices newly constructed within the vicinity of the port that are now completed and soon to be operational.

Ralph Iloy, port manager, said four of the units worth P101.2 million were funded from CEZA's share in 5% tax while the other eight units worth P200 million were funded through corporate funds.

"This aims to provide better office and storage facility for our locators and enterprises that are using our port in transporting their goods and products," Iloy said.

Aside from this, CEZA has also completed the reconstruction of the Port San Vicente in Barangay San Vicente, Santa Ana town to provide also a better facility for the fisherfolk sector and small commercial vessels that are using the structure.
