QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) will formally open on June 1, 2022 the celebration of National Kidney Month. Former president Fidel V. Ramos signed on May 31, 1993 the Presidential Proclamation No. 184 which declares June of every year as the National Kidney Month.
This year’s theme for the celebration is “Batong Malakas sa Panibagong Bukas.” The NKTI partnered with various government agencies and private entities such as the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine Society of Nephrology (PSN), and Philippine Urological Association (PUA), to promote better kidney health.
The National Kidney Month celebration will be formally launched with the following programs:
· Instructional Manuals: ECMO, Urology, Glomerulomephritis
· BotMD (Artificial Intelligence for Patient Monitoring)
· Public Health Unit, IHOPE Application para sa Organ Donation
· Batong Bulilit Contest
Further, the NKTI is preparing a program for “modern day heroes” which includes Hemodialysis Access Workshop and Glomerulonephritis Masterclass which aims to give additional knowledge to doctors and nurses.
