CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- Close to 40,000 jobs overseas have been made available by the government and private sector through nationwide job fairs on Sunday that marked the country’s 124th Independence Day.
Data from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) showed that there are at least 149,102 employment opportunities both here and abroad offered by at least 1,160 participating employers. Of the number, 111,351 are jobs being offered in different parts of the country.
The top job vacancies abroad are for nurses, factory workers, household service workers, carpenters, electricians, masons, and cleaners.
While the top destinations are the countries of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, and Australia.
Meanwhile, the top local vacancies are production operator, customer service representative, microfinance officer/loan officer, sewer/sewing mechanic, mason, carpenter, and laborer.
The top industries are manufacturing, business processing outsourcing, financial activities, and construction.
Aside from private companies, government offices participating in the job fairs are the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine Statistics Authority, and the Local Government Unit-Iloilo.
The job vacancies are jail officer, police officer, enforcement officer, chemist, researcher, attorney III, geologist II, and revenue officer. (PIA-NCR)
