CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Celebrating the 124th Philippine Independence Day, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno urges Kagay-anons to conquer challenges and obstacles that stand in the way of attaining full and meaningful freedom, June 12 at Kiosko Kagawasan, here.
"Not just for us, not just for the people of today, but especially for the people of tomorrow for Cagayan de Oro and northern Mindanao to become the leaders not just of the region but of Mindanao and kung mahimo sa atong nasud (and if possible, of our country)," Moreno said.
In doing do so, Moreno said the task of the government is to create an environment where the needs of the people are addressed and that the government should strive to do things that it has to do in the service of the people.
Noting how the city withstood the challenges of time, especially with the onslaught of COVID-19 pandemic, the mayor said he is confident that the city will be able to carry things out no matter how difficult the challenges are.
"We have shown nga makaya nato kung magtinabangay lang ta (we can do all things if we work together) and we have proven that these problems are not impossible problems," he added.
Thus, he urged Kagay-anons to be inspired of the little and big successes attained through time and to have courage not to give up, to pursue, and to continue with their dreams as well as the dreams of the country's heroes.
During the celebration, the city government also commenced the Himugso 2022 to highlight the 72nd Charter Day of the city. A flag caravan, showcasing the historic sites of the city, was also held along with the raising of the flag with full military honors and executive wreath laying led by City Mayor Oscar Moreno and LtC Henry Pabelonio of Task Force Oro.
