Army general urges Ifugaos to value ancestors’ sacrifices

LAGAWE, Ifugao(PIA) - - An Ifugao Army general encouraged everyone to find inspiration from the courage and sacrifices that our forebearers have shown and undergone to achieve the freedom we enjoy today.

501st Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Steve Crespillo said that the 124th Independence Day themed “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas” is very relevant and timely commitment that all have to ponder on considering the present situation of the nation and the province.

“It is a gargantuan task laid before us; but it is a sweet challenge if we all resurrect from within us the courage and forbearance our forefathers demonstrated in pursuit of our freedom that we are enjoying and celebrating today,” he stated.

Let today be a new beginning for everyone and be a renewal of committed service that propels the public to become the nation that God promised to be, a province that the great “Maknongan” blessed us with,” he added.

Crespillo was the guest of honor and speaker during the Independence Day celebration held at the Kiangan World War II Memorial Shrine.

The event started with a wreath laying ceremony and the 21-gun salute followed by a program attended by local and government officials and employees, Girls Scouts of the Philippines, some veterans and the public. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
