DTI conducts ‘Bantay Presyo’ in Calapan
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office recently conducted its ‘Bantay Presyo’ program, a weekly monitoring of prices and supplies of prime commodities in various business establishments in this city.
DTI Provincial Director Arnel E. Hutalla said they visited and inspected big business establishments such as hardware stores and gasoline stations to ensure the reasonable prices these establishments impose to the buying public and ensure supplies are enough for consumers' needs.
DTI discovered during monitoring that prices of some basic needs products went up in the past few days compared to the prices of the same products in the previous week.
Though prices of some commodities increased, DTI reported that business establishments remain compliant to the set Standard Retail Price (SRP) imposed by the agency.
For the construction materials, there was a slight price drop of steel materials, but the price of plywood increased, while there were no price increase on other construction materials.
Moreover, DTI reported that petroleum products like gasoline costs about ₱76.18 up to ₱78.75 per liter while diesel prices range from ₱78.61 to ₱80.61 per liter. The cost of the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) with 11 kg. weight costs ₱945-₱1,052.
