SSS conducts RACE campaign in EV

TACLOBAN CITY -- The Social Security System (SSS) in Tacloban City has conducted on August 1 a media engagement regarding the agency's Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in the city.

The RACE campaign aims to raise awareness on the employers' obligations to pay their member-employees' mandatory premium contributions to the Social Security System (SSS).

The delinquent establishments were issued notices which they have to comply within 15 days, to avoid further legal actions.

According to Mario V. Corro, vice president of the SSS Visayas Central 2 Division, covering the provinces of Leyte, Samar, and Biliran, they have already conducted 10 RACE operations in Eastern Visayas.

Their target number of delinquent contributors was five (5) per RACE operation, which brings a total of 50 contribution evaders identified  as targets in the region.

In identifying the targets, the  account officers of the different SSS branches have to submit each a name of at least one (1) contribution.

Corro said that most establishments who failed to pay their member-employees' premium contributions were those whose records were either overlooked or fully entrusted to bookkeepers, who likewise overlooked the same.

The SSS has partnered with the media practitioners to ensure the dissemination about the RACE Campaign and thereby  raise awareness on the crucial and mandatory nature of the SSS premium contributions. (GTT/LCO-PIA Leyte)
