OrMin LGU, TIEZA sign MOA for ‘Liwasan ng Mamamayan’
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, headed by Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor, formally signed on August 4 a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the provincial government and the Tourism Infrastructure and Economic Zone Authority (TIEZA) for the proposed ‘Liwasan ng Mamamayan’ project.
The proposed project costing P70M is located right across the Provincial Capitol in Camilmil, Calapan City.
Representatives from TIEZA who also signed the MOA with the governor were Project Planning Officer Juan Manrique Manliclic and Project Monitoring Officer April Villaviciencio, for the immediate implementation of said project.
Dolor said the project of the provincial government will be the first-ever World Class Dancing Fountain Park in the Mimaropa region. He said the funding for this project will not come from the provincial government, but will instead sponsored by the Office of Senator Sonny Angara, through the support of TIEZA.
This will not only serve as a tourist attraction in Calapan, the local chief executive also said it will provide a parking space in the city which will eventually give additional employment opportunity to the residents living in the nearby areas.
Dolor said already coordinated with City Mayor Malou Flores-Morillo regarding the project and the latter expressed her full support to said project.
The ‘Liwasan ng Mamamayan’ will be a site for recreations and is expected to be completed by November 15, 2022. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
