BANGUED, Abra (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Abra continues to provide services to the July 27 magnitude 7 earthquake affected families of the province thru its TESDAmayan Program.
“Alam naman natin na maraming taga Abra ang apektado ng lindol kaya hanggang ngayon patuloy parin ang pagbibigay natin ng kanilang mga pangangailangan especially sa food-items,” said TESDA-Abra Provincial Director Allan S. Millan.
One of the relief initiatives of TESDA-Abra is the distribution of ‘libreng tinapay’ to affected families and communities. The production of free baked products is made possible through the cooperation of TESDA's Community-Based Training (CBT) graduates on bread production.
“We tapped our trainees and graduates ng bread and pastry na sila na rin mismo ang gumawa para sa mga tinapay na ating ipinamigay,” Millan said.
Since July 27, a total of 3,394 families and 20,527 individuals received baked products from TESDA CBT graduates who volunteered in baking and distributing baked products to quake-affected families.
In Tayum, the epicenter of the M7 earthquake, 150 food packs including baked products were distributed to 12 barangays. This was made possible through the in kind and financial donations from the local government unit of Tayum and private partners.
Aside from food-items, the TESDAmayan also helps in providing temporary concrete shelters for families with totally damaged houses. This is implemented through the augmentation of TESDA staff and trainees on carpentry, masonry and other construction-based training courses who are helping in building houses.
