LGU-Naval backs PDL livelihood initiatives

NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) -- The local government unit of Naval supported the livelihood initiatives of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) – Naval District Jail.

With the previous presentation of BJMP officials of some PDL products, Mayor Gretchen Stephanie Espina ordered the implementation of RESIKLO program where all those who enter the new People's Park and the Naval Gymnasium to watch shows, games, and entertainments are required to bring at least five foil plastic packs as their entrance passes.

These recyclable foil packs include those of tooth paste, shampoo, coffee, choco drinks, milk and other recyclable wrappers and containers, as specified in a Facebook post of LGU-Naval.

These foil and recyclable materials will then be turned over to the BJMP for the PDLs to turn them into decors and other home and office utilities for sale to support their livelihood while inside the facility.

LGU-Naval is holding various activities at the gymnasium and at the people’s park for the entire month of September in time for the upcoming fiesta on October 1 in honor of its patroness, the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. (LDL/MLT/PIA-Biliran)
