SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The local government unit of Luna, in coordination with the Provincial Government of La Union’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted a jobs fair in Luna town on September 8.
Luna Mayor Gary Pinzon said the jobs fair was aimed at helping jobseekers, especially those affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, to land employment opportunities suited for them.
“Naisip po kasi namin ito para ma-accommodate, mabigyan ng trabaho ‘yong mga ibang kababayan natin na nabakante na sa work dulot ng COVID-19,” said Pinzon.
Based on the data from PESO, a total of 318 jobseekers looking for local and overseas employment opportunities came.
More than 1,000 jobs were offered by 17 local and three overseas companies.
Ten qualified and deserving job applicants were hired on-the-spot.
Various national government agencies also participated in the activity to provide their services.
Further, the Luna Municipal Health Office offered free vaccination services for jobseekers. (JCR/AMB/KJCR, PIA La Union)
