DSWD’s educational aid under AICS benefitted 1,695 students in E. Samar

BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) – Eastern Samar Field Office (ESFO) provided educational cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to some 1,695 students in the province as of September 5.

According to Social Welfare and Development Team Leader, Edizon R. Cinco, they distributed P1,000 each to 393 elementary students;  P2,000 each to 298 junior high school students;   P3,000 each to 191 senior high school;  and P4,000 each to 813 college students.

Cinco added that in the past three Saturdays -- August 20, August 27, and September 3 -- the total amount they reimbursed was P4,814,000.

There are still three scheduled Saturdays for pay-out, September 10, September 17, and September 24, 2022.

The team leader further shared the following payout schedule: September 10 for qualified applicants with priority numbers 1623 to 2273 and those with confirmed online appointment;  September 17 for qualified applicants with priority numbers 2274 to 2924 and those with confirmed online appointment;  and September 24 for qualified applicants with priority numbers 2925 to 3570 and those with confirmed online appointment.

Through the educational assistance, cash aid is provided to “students-in-crisis” to help defray costs of tuition, school supplies, transportation allowance, and other school related expenses.  (MMP/SDC/PIA Eastern Samar)
