CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The Municipal Police Station (MPS) Pinamalayan headed by Police Lt. Colonel Alfredo E. Lorin, Jr. has launched Special Protection Against Rape and Exploitation (SPARE) project which will intensify the campaign against abuse among children and women.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed recently among implementing agencies of the government that included the Municipal Police Station, Pinamalayan LGU led by Mayor Aristeo A. Baldos, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Department of Education (DepEd) and also the religious sector.
The project hopes to enhance collaboration between and among concerned government agencies in eliminating abuses and violence against children and women.
Lorin said the office of PNP Pinamalayan is open any time to serve the people. He encouraged people in the community to report and to bring their problems with regard to any commission of abuses on women and children; and they promise immediate action on it.
In a message, Pinamalayan Mayor Baldos said that there is no room in Pinamalayan for violence and cruelty to children and women.
The project recognizes children and women’s right to protection from sexual abuse and exploitation as stipulated in Republic Act 11648 or an Act providing for stronger protection against rape and sexual exploitation and abuse. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
