ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- At least 60 coconut farmers from Alcantara, Calatrava, Ferrol, Looc, Odiongan, San Agustin and San Andres attended the Information Caravan on Coconut Farmers and Industry Development (CFIDP) last September 20 in Odiongan, Romblon.
The caravan aims to create awareness on the implementation of Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CFITF) Act or the Republic Act (RA) No. 11524.
The forum was attended by the personnel from High Value Crops Development Program, National Dairy Authority, Agricultural Training Institute and Philippine Coconut Authority, as well as the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Cooperative Development Authority.
During the event, government agencies encouraged farmers to participate in the various interventions under CFITF. They were also encouraged to register in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System to fully avail the CFIDP programs and services.
The activity also became a venue where coconut farmers raised their issues and concerns to implementing agencies during the open forum including the farmers affected by the coconut scale insect, or cocolisap. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA)
