Five Kidapawan barangays get cash for adolescent-friendly health facility accreditation

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province (PIA) -- Five barangays in Kidapawan City recently received P10,000 each from the city government as financial assistance to aid in their application for 2nd level accreditation for an adolescent-friendly health facility.

These barangays are Mua-an, Manongol, Patadon, Magsaysay, and Gayola.

Virginia Ablang, Adolescent Health Program coordinator and Population Commission designated nurse in-charge, said the cash incentive will support the needs of the barangays to completely and successfully comply with the requirements and guidelines set by the Department of Health for accreditation.

“The guidelines state that the facility should have programs for the welfare and empowerment of adolescents or teenagers,” Ablang said.

She added that the facility vying for 2nd level accreditation should have national standards for an adolescent service package, an action plan for information dissemination, policies for flexible time, payment schemes, a plan for an outreach program, information and education campaign materials, certificates of training, and many others.

Meanwhile, city Mayor Paolo Evangelista expressed gratitude as he commended said barangays that he described to serve as examples for other barangays to follow when it comes to ensuring the welfare and protection of the youth.

Aside from the cash incentive, the five barangays also received certificates of appreciation from the city government. (With reports from CIO-Kidapawan)
