Quirino celebrates National Tourism Week

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The provincial government thru the Provincial Tourism Office has started its celebration of the National Tourism Week with the theme: “Rethinking Tourism.”

Provincial Tourism Officer Aurea V. Martinez said the celebration aims to nurture and create awareness among the society on the significance of tourism, its cultural worth as well as its social and economic values.

21 September 2022, Day-1 of National Tourism Week is celebrated through a clean-up drive of caves in Cabarroguis led by Provincial Tourism Officer Aurea V. Martinez together with the teachers and students of QGHS and CNSAT.

The weeklong celebration will be highlighted with tourism activities such as Clean up Drive for Small Cave Circuits, Exhibit of Quirino: Portrait of a Province Coffee Table Book, DOT Cagayan Valley and Northern Philippine Islands Region, Familiarization Tour, Soft Opening of Forest Bathing, Soft Opening of Orchidarium to Forestry 101 Eco-Trail and the Basic Photography Seminar for Tour Guides.

"We invited students from the Quirino General High School and Cabarroguis National School of Arts and Trades for the clean-up drive and familiarization tour at the Susong Dalaga and Banuar Caves in Cabarroguis," Martinez said.

Furthermore, some travel and tour operators from Cagayan Valley and Northern Philippines will be in the province from September 23 to 24, 2022 for the familiar tour at Bagnes Eco Park and Ganano Falls in Baguio Village, Diffun; fossilized flower shop in Saguday; Quirino Watersports Complex and Governor's Rapids in Maddela.

"Our visitors will be learning more about our culture thru the cultural dances to be performed by the Ifugaos and the foods that are available in the places to be visited," the tourism officer added.

The travel and tour operators will also visit the Exhibit of Quirino: Portrait of a Province Coffee Table Book at the Pagdadapunan Pavilion.

The provincial government will sponsor the Tourism Stakeholders Assembly on September 23, 2022 to be held simultaneously with the Soft Opening of Forest Bathing at the Aglipay Caves & Campsite.

Capping the Tourism Week celebration will be the Soft Opening of the Orchidarium to Forestry 101 Eco trail and Basic Photography seminar for tour guides over the weekend. (OTB/TCB/PIA Quirino)
