CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) - Isabela, in collaboration with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)- Region 2, joined together in the conduct of a 4-day training on Techno Enterprising Skills Transfer - Home Care Production for the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Associations here.
DOST - PST Officer Lucio Calimag said four OFW associations benefitted during the training including San Juan OFW and Families Association; Kaagapay Ako OFW ng Quezon; Salinungan West OFW Organization; and Annafunan Echague OFW Association.
The four-day training was conducted from August 30, 2022 to September 2, 2022.
Calimag said the technology training was arranged by the OWWA 2 as part of their reintegration program for sustainable livelihood, with the goal of providing OFWs with the opportunity to learn and understand the techno-enterprising skills they intend to pursue in order to build livelihood projects that will provide income for them and their families.
A total of 78 participants have undergone the hands-on training on dishwashing liquid, powder detergent and fabric conditioner making.
“The technology training will serve as their start-up activity to build their own business and generate income out of their retirement or if working abroad is no longer an option,” Calimag said.
Meanwhile, OWWA - 2 OIC Juvylyn Anne B. Gumabay urged OFWs to establish their own business, to be proactive and to acquire the programs of the government intended for the OFWs.
She said OWWA - 2 is implementing various programs and services to returning OFWs in order for them to be productive while they are in the country and to their families. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
