DepEd Tangub to pay tribute to teachers in National Teachers Month

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)--The Department of Education (DepEd)- Tangub City Division will give a tribute to educators who ensure that learning never stops on National Teachers’ Day on October 5.

The month-long celebration aims to honor the greatness and dedication of teachers in helping the students to reach their dreams amid the disruptions brought by the prolonged health crisis.

During the let’s talk MisOcc virtual media forum via zoom, Division of Tangub City, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nimfa R. Lago commended teachers for their sacrifices and hard work to provide education to the youth, may it be in-person or online.

“Nagto-o ta nga dili lang isa ka bulan ang atong ihatag sa atong mga maistra dapat adlaw-adlaw, bulan-bulan. Duna ta’y mga bisag ginagmay nga mga appreciation ug recognition, she stressed.

(We believe that we don’t just give one month to our teachers, we should give it daily, month by month. We should have small appreciations and recognitions)

The Department of Education (DepEd) also said that teachers will receive a P1,000 incentive as part of the celebration of National Teachers’ Month.
“Gi-isiguro nato nga mahatag gyud nato on time ang ilang mga benepesyo ug serbisyo. In fact gi-prepare na nato ang payroll nga P1,000 per teacher and as for the training of the teachers,”she said.

(We are making sure that we can provide their benefits and services on time. In fact we have already prepared the payroll of P1,000 per teacher and as for the training of the teachers.

Lago added that aside from giving them an award during the culmination this coming October 5, they will also have freebies and tokens that will be supported by the local government of Tangub.

Tangub City Division also provided trainings like service trainings and international trainings for teachers.

“Our Human Resource Development of Education and Program Specialist, they prepare trainings that out of five international trainings, magpili ang usa ka teacher ug three out of five nga magsugod (a teacher will choose 3 out of 5 to start) within October,“ she said.

On the other hand, Lago shared some of the qualities and values of a teacher.

“Gikinahanglan nato sa usa ka maistra aside from being competent, gikinahanglan nato ang iyang diligence, gikahinanglan sad nato ang iyang compassionate nga relasyon sa mga kabataan, gikahinanglan usab nato ang iyang integridad as a teacher because we feel nga ang teacher mao gyud ang modelo sa atong mga kabataan ilabina ato nang ginatan-aw ang gitawag nga character building sa atong mga bata,”

(We need a teacher aside from being competent, a teacher who is diligent and compassionate with the children; we also need a teacher with integrity because we feel that the teacher is really the model to the youth, especially we are looking at the so-called character building to our children)

The Division of Tangub City has a total of 776 teachers. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
