Tabuk City LGU mulls putting up blood center

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) --The city government is bent on putting-up a blood center under its health services program.

Jandel Taguiam of the Tabuk City Health Office said the facility is a pressing need of the city, which still taps the services of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Tuguegarao City for blood screening.

The city government has included this as priority in 2023 health program allocation for the acquisition of needed equipments of the center, Taguiam disclosed.

The facility would be of great service to other municipalities in the province.

Meanwhile, Governor James S. Edduba, who is the Provincial Blood Council chairperson, moved for the accreditation of all rural health units in the province as blood collection units.

This, he said, is necessary to ensure adequate supply of blood to patients especially in emergency cases.

At present, only Tabuk City Health Office and the Philippine Red Cross –Kalinga Chapter have blood collection stations. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
