DTI-Davao Occidental provides livelihood assistance to MSMEs, local vendors

STA. MARIA, Davao Occidental (PIA) – More than 60 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local vendors in two municipalities in Davao Occidental have been given the chance to improve their small businesses after receiving livelihood assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry in the province.

The livelihood assistance is under DTI’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program which provides additional capital to MSMEs, farmers, fisher folks, OFWs, women associations and the LGBTQ sector.

Through the PPG Program, DTI Davao Occidental was able to extend five types of business kits to 40 existing and potential MSMEs in Malita town.

In the distribution activity on Tuesday (September 27) at the Malita municipal grounds, each beneficiary received livelihood kits on meat processing, agricultural supplies retailing, fishery supplies retailing, garments making and hair rebond and beauty care kit.

DTI-Davao Occidental has also brought the PPG program to Sta. Maria town, which benefited 24 local vendors who were given business starter kits last September 26, 2022.

The beneficiaries received egg retailing, barbeque grill starter kits and night market vendor starter kit which will sustain their small enterprises.

According to DTI-Davao Occidental, the PPG program responds to post-disaster livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program aiming at assisting individuals and families affected by calamities, including health disasters like the COVID-19 pandemic to recover and start their businesses.
