Dgte holds medical outreach, COVID-19 response

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Oct. 3 (PIA) --  The Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) conducted a medical-dental outreach and bloodletting activity at Poblacion 1 (Tinago) Gymnasium on Sept. 30.

Residents availed of the medical services offered by the CHO in line with the annual Family Week celebration.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla led health workers in the consultations and in distributing free medicines and vitamins to the residents.

In partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), the city also administered COVID-19 vaccination and boosters to eligible residents to further prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, during a gathering of outstanding government officials and employees in Cebu City, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo shared the city’s experience and success in controlling the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and in ensuring that the delivery of public service continues despite the challenges.

Remollo shared the best practices adopted by the City Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases that resulted to the city achieving the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate in Central Visayas.

This is by inoculating more than 80% of the eligible population in the city and for being one of the cities that was among the first to be downgraded to Alert Level 1, allowing the city to fully reopen the local economy.

In the same event, Talla received her award as one of the Regional Winners for the 2022 Search for Outstanding Government Workers for the Dangal ng Bayan Individual Category by the Civil Service Commission on Sept. 30 in Cebu City.

Talla was recognized for her outstanding leadership in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic together with Remollo. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
