NegOr gets 110K face masks from Temasek Foundation, Filinvest

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Oct. 5 (PIA) -- A total of 110,000 KN95 face masks have been donated to the province of Negros Oriental and the municipalities of Valencia, Amlan, and Bayawan City from Singapore-based Temasek Foundation, the non-profit philanthropic arm of Singapore investment company Temasek Holdings, in partnership with the Filinvest group.

Governor Pryde Henry Teves received the province’s share of 50,000 face masks and 20,000 for each town and city here through the subsidiary FDC Water Utilities, Inc. (FDC Water).

With COVID-19 still a public health threat, Teves said the province has received a number of face mask donations which will be distributed to students in public schools in preparation for the full implementation of face-to-face classes in November.

The donation from Temasek Foundation form part of  four million pieces of KN95 face mask donated to the Philippines.

It is the second collaboration of the parties as the foundation also donated two million pieces of surgical-grade face masks last year to the country.

Filinvest shouldered the shipment and distribution costs from Singapore to the various cities and towns across the Philippines.

Local executives expressed their appreciation over the donation as face masks are still relevant in
keeping COVID-19 infection at bay.

Other recipients of the face masks include areas from the provinces of Cebu, Davao, Misamis Oriental, Zamboanga, and Aklan.

FDC Water is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FDC Utilities, Inc. (FDCUI), the infrastructure arm of the Filinvest group.

"This initiative comes at a very reasonable time. As COVID-19 cases decline week on week, many have mixed feelings of relief and concern over the easing of public health protocols. But still, we cannot deny that wearing face masks has significantly protected us over the past years and, therefore, must continue to do so for the safety of everyone," said Juan Eugenio Roxas, president and CEO of FDC Utilities, Inc. and subsidiaries.  (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from FDC)
