IPs undergo digital literacy training in Bulalacao

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – At least 14 Indigenous People (IP) students attended the two-day Digital Literacy Training on Computer and Internet Essentials conducted recently by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT)-Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office in Brgy. Benli, Bulalacao.

IP students who participated in the training belonged to the Hanunuo Mangyan tribe.

The training of DICT to IPs is under the Tech4ED program which specifically aims to provide basic knowledge on proper usage and importance of computer/internet that can help them in their studies and slowly adapt with the present technologies.

The Tech4ED center was established last month in Brgy. Benli, which served as a channel for relevant ICT enabled services and content for socio-economic development of unserved and underserved communities towards improved quality of life.  Hence, a training was conducted in order to utilize the services provided by the Tech4ED program.

Likewise, this has been the DICT's mission to bridge the rising digital divide in the country by providing ICT related topics and other technical training to the far-flung communities and underserved sectors who are in need of digital technologies. DICT-Oriental Mindoro is headed by Provincial Officer and Technical Operation Division Chief, Engr. Norly A. Tabo.  (LTC/PIA-MIMAROPA)
