
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently gave financial assistance to 18 Former Rebels (FRs) in the province to start their livelihood projects.
DSWD Regional Director Lucia Alan said P360,000 worth of financial assistance was given to the FRs through their Livelihood Settlement Grant for Sustainable Livelihood Program (LSG-SLP).
She said the beneficiaries were from the towns of Ambaguio, Bagabag, Bayombong, Dupax del Norte, Dupax del Sur, Kasibu, Sta. Fe, and Villa Verde.
Alan said FRs are assured of their continuous assistance as part of their reintegration in the society through the Whole-of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
She said they have completed the distribution of assistance for the FRs and families in conflict vulnerable areas in Nueva Vizcaya where a total of 29 FRs have already received P580,000 at P20,000 each while three livelihood associations were also awarded with P900,000 with P300,000 each as sustainable economic package.
"Napaniwala ang kaisipan namin sa mga pangako nung hinikayat kami sa kilusan. Kinalaunan napagtanto naming hindi pala totoo ang pangakong ito. Kaya sa pagbabalik-loob namin, malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa hanay ng gobyerno. Dalangin ko sa Panginoon na tuluy-tuloy ang pagtulong ninyo. Itong natanggap ko ang magagamit kong dagdag puhunan sa aking negosyong tindahan," alias Aning, a former rebel said after receiving the assistance. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
