CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office has reported that the P19.7 million worth Eden - Cabaritan bridge in the town of San Manuel is about to be completed.
DPWH - 2nd District Engineering Officer Engr. Jose B. Tobias said the ongoing project is expected to speed up the delivery of goods and services.
It also provides travelers a better transport facility and generates jobs for residents.
Tobias said the bridge project will also help students’ mobility ready for the full face-to-face classes.
He said the 25-meter length bridge will replace the old bridge. The scope of works also include slope protection structures and Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) works.
Meanwhile, the Macanao bridge in the town of Luna is also nearing its completion which will surely benefit the farmers of Luna, Isabela in transporting agricultural products to neighboring municipalities.
Tobias said the project works of the Macanao bridge includes the construction of an 18-meter Concrete Bridge.
The said bridge was constructed on a 0.80-meter diameter bored piles with RCDG fixed-end girder (monolithic type), 7.32m carriageway with 0.76m sidewalks with concrete approaches and slope protection. This project replaced the old one steel bridge that was frequently flooded during rainy seasons.
The bridge is funded under the Special Road Fund Motor Vehicle User Charge (MVUC) for Phase 1 and Convergence and Special Support Program (CSSP) for Phase II, the bridge project has an aggregates allocation of P38.8-million.
The Phase I of the project was completed last May 2022 and the Phase II is still on-going. (MGE / PIA Isabela)
