ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--As the delegates of the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) organization immersed themselves in the Bajau community in Barangay Tambacan here, they affirmed their commitment to improving the lives of the children.
MUPh 2022 Charity Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx said their visit to the Bajau community in Barangay Tambacan was an eye-opener. She said that this community has its own culture but they don't have the means to further life.
Amelinckx hopes that with the support of the local government units and other partners, they will empower the Bajau community to improve their lives. She also challenged the stakeholders during a fundraising event hosted by the city government of Iligan to be part of the "process" by supporting the Life Changer Project of Save the Children Philippines.
Meanwhile, MUPh 2022 Celeste Cortesi said during the fundraising event that she is committed to amplifying the voices of the children. When she started working with Save the Children Philippines, she learned about the challenges faced by the children. She also believes that through their platforms, they can help and support them.
Voltaire Tayag, Director of Communications of the Miss Universe Philippines, highlighted the essence of the spirit of togetherness in supporting and empowering children during the fundraising event.
"We alone cannot do it. The government cannot do it alone. We need the spirit of togetherness to make the lives of children become better," he said.
Moreover, Lia Ramos, head of the Women Empowerment Committee and Charity of Miss Universe Philippines Organization, said that working with Save the Children Philippines has changed their lives. She learned that there is hope despite challenges as they witnessed what their beneficiaries went through but were still hopeful. (LELA/ PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
