GSIS Legazpi offers 20k-40k emergency loan with 6% annual interest

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA5/Albay)— The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Legazpi Branch announced that they are accepting Emergency Loan applications from Albay and Catanduanes. This endeavor aims to provide assistance up to P40,000 to the residents of calamity-stricken areas due to typhoon Paeng.

‘’Because of this calamity and as declared by President Ferdiand Marcos Jr. that Bicol Region, along with other select regions in the country as under the State of Calamity  in Bicol region, the  GSIS will grant the Emergency Loan with 1 month gracing period. It  started on November 8,’’ GSIS Legazpi Branch Manager Levi Olivar stated.

‘’This loan is offered to all members who will avail of the loan for the first time. They can borrow  amounting to P20,000 with 6% annual interest payable in 3 years,’’Olivar added.

Those who will avail of the multipurpose loan or members with existing loan  such as salary or house loan,  can borrow up to P40,000 to pay off their previous emergency loan balance and still receive a maximum net amount of P20,000.

Who are qualified?

‘’Qualified to apply are members working in the government, working or residing in the province of Albay and Catanduanes affected by the recent typhoon,’’Olivar stated.

Members that have at least three months paid premium pays within six months, and have a take home pay not lower than P5,000 after all required monthly obligations have been deducted.

Emergency loan is also open for old-age and disability pensioners with resulting net monthly take-home pension is at least 25% of their basic monthly pension after loan availment.

3-way process of application

Olivar emphasized the most convenient filing of the clients is through the GSIS touch application that can be downloaded in play store with One Time Password (OTP) or finger print opt feature.

Here, the members can also access the details of the status of their loan by entering their Business Partner (BP) number or membership number from GSIS.

The second way of filing could be done over the counter or on-site, by presenting their Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID card) and application form.

Lastly, they can also do their transactions through the GSIS kiosks. They have to present  their UMID card and provide finger print to avail the emergency loan.

Members should notify the GSIS in case of changes of phone number and coordinate with the Agency Authorized Officer (AAO) or update on the nearest GSIS kiosk.

‘’Do not share your OTP regardless of what have you accessed through your ATM or online banking in GSIS touch,’’ a word of precaution from Olivar.
