Cam Sur registers 91 new COVID cases

PILI, Camarines Sur (PIA) – The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol reported 91 newly registered COVID cases in this province in its latest bulletin dated November 13 to 19.

The report was released on Monday, November 21 at Ugnayan briefing.

Camarines Sur accumulated 46.43 percent of 196 total cases in the Bicol region.

A sum of 41 COVID cases were recorded in Naga City while Nabua and Pili each added five cases to their respective log.

The municipalities of Camaligan and San Jose posted four cases each; while Canaman, Pasacao and Minalabac, registered three cases each.

The COVID-19 situation in Balatan, Calabanga, Libmanan, Ragay, and Tigaon have increased with two cases each.

Baao, Bato, Cabusao, Caramoan, Garchitorena, Iriga City, Lagonoy, Magarao, Milaor, Pamplona, San Fernando, Sipocot, and Tinambac added only one active case individually in the past week.

Meanwhile, around 79 new recoveries were also verified in the province.

The details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and local government units for monitoring.

The release of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173).

While there is an executive order of voluntary wearing of face masks in open and public areas, Dra. Lulu Ramos- Santiago, the infectious disease coordinator of the DOH Bicol, said that there are exemptions to this such as health facility workers, public transportation commuters, senior citizens, pregnant women, immunocompromised and unvaccinated individuals.

“With this coordination between the government and the public, we can see the glimpse at the end of the tunnel. The executive order made by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. does not signal the end of the pandemic; rather, it is the beginning of our continuous fight against it,” Dr. Santiago said.
