City Council passed a measure for Covid 19 workers' Health Emergency Allowance

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, (PIA) -- Eligible Covid-19 response workers of Puerto Princesa City will be receiving their Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) from the Department of Health. This was after the 17th City Council of Puerto Princesa adopted yesterday, November 21, the Committee Report of Committee on Health rendered by City Councilor Luis Marcaida III and approved a measure allowing the City Mayor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Health Regional Office.

“A resolution authorizing the City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of the City Government of Puerto Princesa with the Center for Health Emergency-Mimaropa pertaining to the release of the Health Emergency Allowance, Sickness and Death Compensation and other benefits for public and private healthcare workers and non-healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and other future public health emergencies," said Marcaida.

Marcaida reported that according to City Health Officer Dr. Ricardo Panganiban, the funds for Health Emergency Allowance will come from the Center for Health Department-Mimaropa under Republic Act 11712 which allows the grant of Health Emergency Allowance to eligible public and private healthcare workers and non-HCWs regardless of employment status who are involved in the Covid-19 response in all facilities including but not limited to military hospitals, GOCCs, state universities, hospitals,, and private-licensed health facilities for every month of service from the time of declaration of public health emergency until lifted by the President.

The health emergency allowance shall vary based on the risk exposure categorization of the HCWs and non-NCWs in particular setting which are P3,000 for low-risk areas, P6,000 for medium-risk areas and P9,000 for high-risk areas.

City Health Officer Dr. Ricardo Panganiban confirmed to the PIA-Palawan that all employees of the City Health Office or more than 1,500 individuals will benefit from this measure and this will be given on a monthly basis. (MCE/PIA MIMAROPA)
