MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- The provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) held site visits to the municipalities of Malitbog, Padre Burgos, and Limasawa on November 17 and 18, checking on the progress of projects with funding set to expire on December 31.
“With the risk of fund reversion, the Department recognized the need to visit the projects that are considered at-risk based on the status reflected in SubayBAYAN, the official online system monitoring of projects,” the provincial DILG said in its social media page.
The focused projects were funded “under the Local Government Support Fund -- Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) FY 2021.”
These included the construction of multi-purpose building at Baywalk, Brgy. Cabul-anonan, Malitbog, worth P5 million; construction of multi-purpose buildings in barangays Laca and Sta. Sofia, Padre Burgos, for P8 million; and the completion of construction of multi-purpose building in Brgy. Cabulihan, Limasawa with a project cost of P2,170,000.
Visiting DILG personnel headed by Danilo Laguitan, provincial director, along with the technical staff, discussed with the respective local chief executives and their counterpart technical personnel the consequences should the projects fail to finish within the period.
“The purpose of the visit was to help the municipalities, give recommendations as to the project implementation, address issues and concerns,” the DILG said.
The interior department also made it clear during the dialogue that it has no authority to extend the fund validity. (MMP/PIA Southern Leyte)
