CDO urged to take part in gov’t initiatives during Bonifacio Day

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—“Kani nga panahon, naa ta’y platforms sa pagpadayag dili lamang sa pagpahungaw sa atong gibati pero sa pagtan-aw nga kung unsa pu'y pwede mahatag para sa gobyerno.”


(This time, we have platforms to express not only our feelings but also to see what we can do for the government)

Highlighting the example of Andres Bonifacio, Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, who is also the city’s majority floor leader, urges Kagay-anons to contribute to nation building, and the local government to serve effectively and efficiently.

He added that the heroism of Bonifacio and learning from the past could help the people of today envision a better and more harmonious life.

"Naila si Gat Andres Bonifacio sa iyang paglihok isip rebolusyonaryo. Sukwahi sa uban nato nga mga kauban nga nagpuyo dinhi sa ibabaw sa kalibutan, ang iyang kaisog, ang iyang gipakita ang iyang panglantaw, vision nga unta ang independente nga kinabuhi, ang Pilipino para sa Pilipinas ug ang Pilipinas para sa Pilipino," Nacaya said.

(Andres Bonifacio is known for being a revolutionary. Contrary to those who are living in this world, Bonifacio’s bravery, vision of an independent life that the Filipino is for the Philippines and the Philippines is for the Filipino)

With the theme "Kabayanihan at Pagtindig sa Makabagong Panahon," the city government here celebrated the 159th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio at the El Pueblo A Sus Heroes Monument, Plaza Divisoria, here, November 30.

The celebration is highlighted by the sounding of sirens by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-10, an executive wreath-laying led by Nacaya, Vice Mayor Jocelyn Rodriguez, and 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Commander MGen Wilbur Mamawag, mass wreath laying by the different national line agencies, and a presentation of the brief history of the Bonifacio and Heroes Monument by Nicolas Aca.
