CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--To increase COVID-19 coverage by end of December this year, the Department of Health (DOH)-10 through the Public Health Operations Center launched the three-day “Bakunahang Bayan Part 2” Special Vaccination Days on December 5-7, 2022 at SM City CDO Uptown.

The activity aims to reach 50% First Booster Dose Coverage among 12 years old and above and to further increase the Primary Series Coverage for 5-11 years old.

“I am happy to report to you that full immunization, meaning the first and second doses in all the age groups in Northern Mindanao is 92%. For the senior citizens it is 75%,” Dr. Jose Llacuna Jr., DOH regional director said.

“We have another objective, we want to ensure the protection COVID immunization gives us will be further bolstered and strengthened through another two booster doses.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 expressed support for the Bakunahang Bayan Part 2 saying the LGUs are also one to achieve as well the objective and aim of this vaccination launching which is to reach 50% before the year ends.

“We have disseminated an issuance down to our local government units wherein they are directed to contact back their contractors to build their vaccination sites in order for them to deliver this vaccination launching and with the mandate from their local chief executives,” the DILG representative said.

SM City CDO Uptown mall manager Bernadette Flores shared they are open to any partnership from government agencies and in full support of the COVID-19 vaccination efforts of DOH.

“Just recently we received an award, a plaque of appreciation from DOH, for being the partner of vaccination in CDO. But in truth, it is us who should be thanking you for your unshakeable efforts in making the world a safer place and for the generations to come. I will always support all endeavors such as this.
