VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) — Artists in Ilocos Sur province may now send their entries for the Kannawidan Festival Art Competition this year.
The provincial government invites artists to “reveal realizations, motivations, aspirations through an obra maestra artwork.”
The competition will be held from January 29 to 30 at the National Museum of the Philippines-Ilocos Regional Complex, Burgos Street in this city.
All interested individuals may compete with one entry each and there is no age limit.
Submissions from those who previously won during the past years are also accepted.
This year’s competition is sponsored by BeautéDerm and was realized through the efforts of the Arts and Culture Committee facilitated by the Ilocos Sur Export Enterprise and Development (ISEED) Marketing Cooperation.
With no registration fee asked of the participants, it features five categories.
For painting (professional category) and sculpture, both winners will receive a grand prize of P50,000 each.
While for painting (student category), seed mosaic representation of culture and values of the heritage province, and Plein Air on-the-spot painting, the victors in each will bring home P30,000; the second prize winners will receive P20,000; and the third prize winners will get P10,000.
Moreover, winning entries will become properties of the provincial government.
All the winners will likewise receive trophies and certificates, and they will be invited to attend the exhibition and awarding ceremony.
