QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The local government of Muntinlupa launched the Muntinlupa Reading Book (MRB) Club for Kids with a reading session during opening of the new Tunasan Children’s Park on Thursday, January 26.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon led a reading session with some daycare students during the said event.
"Reading is a basic building block for knowledge," Mayor Biazon stated, adding that the MRB Club "will be helpful in achieving the goals of the 7K Agenda in educating young Muntinlupeños of the present for the future."
According to the Muntinlupa Public Information Office (PIO), the City is aiming to reach new heights by raising a generation of readers who not only excel academically but also dream big as a result of the books they read.
The MRB Club aims to develop basic literacy skills such as reading, listening, comprehension, speaking, and vocabulary at an early age. It also promotes stronger familial bonds through parent-child interaction.
As a program of the City Government, the MRB Club organizes book reading sessions in different communities in Muntinlupa. Its main goal is to promote a culture of reading among Muntinlupeño children.
The program also promotes volunteerism and community building while encouraging social interaction by bringing together book lovers.
Moreover, the MRB Club is inviting volunteer readers under the "Make Your City Proud Program" to share their passion for reading with kids of all ages and hone their interpersonal skills in the process. (PIA-NCR)
