New MOPJ-Initao building now 72% complete

INITAO, Misamis Oriental (PIA)--Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia visited the ongoing construction of the new Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) at Barangay Andales, Initao, in line with the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental’s (PGMOs) thrust towards improving the province’s infrastructure assets under Unabia’s PAGLAUM strategic direction, January 23.

The soon-to-rise MOPJ is a 5-hectare facility that includes fifteen (15) buildings, watch towers, water reservoirs, solar street lights, and a primary and secondary perimeter fence that can house 1,200 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

Now at its 72% completion rate, the new jail facility will resolve issues with overcrowding at the current jail facility and be set to introduce more development programs for every PDL, such as the establishment of a Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) school, the implementation of a livelihood program, and the opportunity to grow plants in its garden area for potential agricultural outputs.

Unabia also visited the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital (MOPH)-Initao together with Mayor Gagay Acain, Vice Mayor Gogoy Acain, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Sangguniang Bayan during the Serbisyong PAGLAUM activity in the municipality. (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
