100 rice farmers trained on basic agro-entrepreneurship

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 100 farmers in the town of San Mateo were trained on basic agro-entrepreneurship in agricultural economics and agro-enterprising by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Isabela in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Isabela.

DTI Isabela Information Officer Mel Mari Laciste said the DTI  gives basic entrepreneurial training to farmers to know if they gain in farming.

Laciste said that the partnership of DTI Isabela and TESDA Isabela, the farm schools were utilized as demonstration farms during the training to produce high quality in-bred rice seeds, seed certification and farm mechanization.

He said the trainees have the chance to conduct farm school on-site trainings particularly at Technodemo Farm Training Center, AR Santiago Fish Farm, Saguibo Fish Farm and A. Tabangay Integrated Farms in the town of San Mateo.

He said the DTI Isabela taught the farmers how to plan, start, and sustain a business fundamentals of agro-entrepreneurship while TESDA provides accredited rice farm production trainers during the duration of the training that took almost one month. (OTB/MGE / PIA Isabela)
