Ilocos Sur gov’t to commend top policemen

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – The provincial government of Ilocos Sur recently adopted a resolution commending 10 outstanding policemen annually for attaining exceptional accomplishments while working with the community in preventing and solving crime/s and in maintaining peace, order and security in the province.


The awardees are chosen according to their significant accomplishments in the categories of investigation; police community relations; intelligence; operations; forensic; traffic management; human resource development; anti-narcotics; health services; and administrative management.


According to the provincial government, this is an expression of its appreciation to the commitment of police officers in maintaining peace and order in the province.


“This award is intended to present to the entire nation the PNP’s finest men and women in Ilocos Sur that will serve as inspiration to their fellow police officers. As our partner in nation-building, it is therefore the desire of the province to recognize the outstanding achievement of law enforcers who are one of the cornerstones of the nation’s growth and development,” Provincial Ordinance No. 0138, s. 2022 reads.


They shall be awarded on February 13 in time for the annual celebration of Ilocos Sur’s Kannawidan Festival.


Along with them are another 10 police special awardees who shall be conferred with the following awards: Leadership Award, Best Chief of Police (1st District), Best Chief of Police (2nd District), Best Chief of Police (Upland Municipalities), Best Station Program Initiative, Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Operations, Best Junior PCO for Administration, Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) of the Year, Most Peaceful Town in the Province of Ilocos Sur, and Best Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP).


Each awardee shall receive a cash prize, plaque and other recognition benefits, which include a provincial college scholarship award for their children.


For those who don’t have children yet, they may choose a relative to avail the scholarship as clarified by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Efren Rafanan during the deliberation of the nominees held on Thursday.


Before reaching the selection committee, which is headed by the governor of the province, an initial selection process shall be conducted by the Provincial Awards and Decorations Board of the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office.


Deadline of submission of nominations shall be on or before the last week of September of every year. (JCR/AMB/JMCQ, PIA Ilocos Sur)
