LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- Undersecretary for Police Affairs, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs Atty. Isagani Nerez enjoined the men and women of the Police Regional Office - Cordillera (PRO-Cor) to maintain the peaceful and orderly state of the region.
"Let us maintain a peaceful and orderly Cordillera Region in pursuit of the inherent objectives of the government and conducive to the fulfillment of the people's aspirations which is to live happily and deal with other people in harmony," Nerez said during the 32nd Philippine National Police Foundation Day Celebration on Monday (Feb. 20).
Nerez, who once served as the regional director of PRO-Cor, also lauded the unit for continuously performing its various tasks in peacekeeping in the region.
"As you celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the Philippine National Police, I urge every personnel of PROCor to continue your service to the people of the Cordillera region with much CARE which stands for courage, accountability, respect, and enthusiasm," he said.
He explained that courage stands for bravery or doing the right things and telling the truth despite the strong opposition or adversity.
Accountability speaks of willingness to accept responsibility and to answer for the consequence of one's action.
Respect speaks of a relation built with special regard or an act of giving particular attention and consideration to specific situation while enthusiasm speaks of dedication and commitment to sworn duty to serve and protect the people.
Nerez said that "it is the unconditional eagerness and willingness to fulfill the mandate of the Philippine National Police to the people in the Cordillera Region".
With the theme "Patuloy na Serbisyong Publiko, Handog ng Pambansang Kapulisan na may Malasakit, Kaayusan, at Kapayapaan Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Ating Bayan", Nerez underlined that the PNP anniversary is not only an opportunity to celebrate the contributions and services rendered by the organization in sustaining and preserving peace and order in the region. It is also a venue to share the spirit of unity, solidarity, and togetherness.
"The theme seeks the continuity of your zealous and unselfish service to your stakeholders. It serves as a reminder to PROCor officers and men that in performing public functions, you must do it with righteousness, tempered with kindness," he added.
As part of the celebration, PRO-Cor also presented medals to distinguished personnel with meritorious achievements.
A wreath laying ceremony was also conducted in commemoration of PNP personnel who lost their lives in pursuit of peace. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
