New road projects in Batangas to boost tourism, economic development

BATANGAS CITY (PIA) — New road projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in San Juan and Tingloy towns in Batangas are expected to boost economic activities and local tourism in the province.

These include the completed San Juan section of Lobo-Malabrigo-Laiya-San Juan Road, which opened to motorists on February 28.

According to the DPWH Region 4A, the 336-meter concrete road project will provide easier access to motorists going in and out of Lobo, San Juan, and nearby towns.

San Juan and Lobo are known for beach destinations, and the completion of the P66.5 million road project is expected to boost tourism activities in the said municipalities.

The DPWH Region 4A added the new road section will also enhance existing road networks, citing “its smooth and paved sections would decrease accident risks and mass transit times, which in turn help the local economy and promote tourism in the region.”

Tingloy Circumferential Road
Meanwhile, the Tingloy Circumferential Road, which broke ground recently, is also expected to improve the mobility of people, goods, and services as it will connect all the villages within the island town.

According to the DPWH Region 4A, the Php 2.1 billion road project, spanning more than 31 kilometers, is expected to be completed in 2029.

The project is funded through the infrastructure program of Batangas Second District Representative Gerville Luistro and carried out by the DPWH Region 4A.

The DPWH said more road projects in the region are underway as part of the government’s Build, Better, More infrastructure program. (FSC, PIA4A)
