Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz led the re-opening of the Ilagan Sanctuary located at Barangay Sta. Victoria last March 13, 2023.
It was attended by the city and barangay officials, employees from various government agencies, and other sectoral representatives.
The Ilagan Sanctuary was temporarily closed as the city government allotted more than P30 million for its rehabilitation and beautification.
Diaz said the Ilagan Sanctuary was devastated by several natural calamities where the facilities were dilapidated and was not visited by tourists for several years due to the pandemic.
He said since the tourism industry returned to normalcy, the need to rehabilitate the primary tourist destination in the city was the primary goal of the city government.
He said the city government is expecting the influx of tourists in the city as it will be hosting regional and international sports competitions this month and next month.
“We have invested in the rehabilitation of Ilagan Sanctuary, this primary tourist spot in the city is expected to be visited by local and foreign tourists wherein we have added several amenities inside it,” Diaz said.
He assured the Ilaguenos, local and foreign tourists that they will enjoy the amenities that were added inside the sanctuary to include horse, golf car, boat and cable car riding, zipline and several others for their enjoyment and satisfaction. (OTB/MGE / PIA Isabela)
