DAVAO CITY, March 16, 2023 (PIA) The Philippine National Police in Davao Region will impose a one-strike policy on station commanders once a politician is hurt or murdered in their areas of responsibility.
Major Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office XI said Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr., director of the PRO XI office has ordered a one-strike policy for station commanders where a political leader can be hurt in their respective area of responsibility.
Gultiano bared the one-strike policy takes effect immediately in relation to the DILG guidelines and the PNP pronouncements on the issue.
“A one-strike policy means that a police station commander can be relieved from his post if any of the local chief executives is hurt maliciously in his area of responsibility by bad elements,” she said.
Gultiano said that so far, all politicians in Davao Region behave appropriately.
“No intense political rivalry has been monitored in Davao Region,” she stressed.
Authorities have to be watchful all the time after the ambush of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong, Jr. on February 17 in Maguing, Lanao del Sur, the wounding of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur Mayor Ohto Caumbo Montawal on an ambush try by two assailants while inside his vehicle on February 22 in Pasay City, and the shooting to death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo inside his residential compound in Brgy.
