DTI-2 conducts proper, safe ceremonial destruction of uncertified products

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - In accordance with the World Consumer Rights Day, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Region 2 conducted a ceremonial destruction of confiscated uncertified products.

Part of this ceremony are such items seized from local stores like lighters, interior tire tubes, electrical tapes, portable electric fans, and rice cookers, which have no Philippine Standards (PS) marsk or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.

The DTI-2 sought assistance from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office of the Tuguegarao City local government unit and the Commission on Audit with regard to the proper and safe way of disposing the said products.

The city has its own disposal area for toxic and hazardous items to ensure that these are disposed without negative effects to the environment. (MDCT/JKC/PIA-2/with reports from Eunice Quilang)
