QUEZON CITY (PIA) - As early as the first quarter of 2023, the Steering Committee (SC) convened to gear up preparations for the National Volunteers Month (NVM) Celebration in December, which culminates with the annual Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV).

Highlighting the discussions in the SC meeting held last March 14 were the formulation of plans for the national celebration, the dissemination of such at all levels of government and the private sector, suggestions on possible promotional activities, and monitoring of the NVM activities.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) sits as an agency-member of the SOV-SC that participated in the discussions, along with the Department of Foreign Affairs, United Nations and International Organizations (DFA-UNIO), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), National Youth Commission (NYC), Department of Education (DepEd), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Filipino United Nations Volunteers Association (FUNVA), International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), U.S. Peace Corps-Philippines (USPC-Phils), Philippine Coalition on Volunteerism (PHILCV), Kabisig ng Kalahi, Inc.

The Philippine National Volunteers Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) serves as secretariat for the SOV and NVM. (MBR/PIA)
