Fun weekend treat at Rizal Park Luneta

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- Parkgoers enjoyed buying fresh farm produce at Rizal Park Luneta last 24-26 March 2023. The National Park Development Committee (NPDC) prepared this activity, along with other events, in hope of giving visitors an enriched park experience.

In partnership with the Department of Agriculture and KADIWA, the NPDC brought back the Farmers’ Market where parkgoers could buy vegetables, fruits, rice, eggs, and mushroom at affordable prices.

On the same weekend, the popular food market, Mercato Centrale opened at the Noli Me Tangere Garden stalls of local food and beverage. Aside from this, a weekly line-up of live performers entertained the visitors of the night market.

Guests also took part in the “Give an Hour for Earth” exhibit and “Upcycling Workshop” which was conducted by Mrs. Angel Vic T. Panelo and Mr. Jaymark C. Gloria as part of NPDC’s participation in the Earth Hour held last 25 March. The Rizal Monument and non-essential park lights were switched off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, in celebration of National Women’s Month, the NDPC has lined-up cultural events for everyone. Concert at the Park presented “Rights for All, Opportunities for All” featuring the University of Santo Tomas Wind Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo G. Ranera with Ms. Rhoxene Octaviano and Ms. Vanessa Celestial. This free concert on 26 March 2023 was held at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium.

If you want to see an art exhibit, you can visit the one entitled: “SHEroes: Honoring Women Who Inspire Us” until 31 March 2023, 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Rizal Park Visitor’s Center. This exhibit by artists Tom Alvarado and Ariane Advento features paintings that celebrate the lives, achievements, and contributions of women.
