Kalinga gears up for ‘Oplan Sumvac’

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – The province braces for the expected influx of   the people with the upcoming Holy Week and summer vacation.

Under “Oplan Sumvac,” Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Julanta C. Baac in the recent council meeting called for the inspection of resorts and other tourist destinations to ensure public safety and comfort.

Chico River watch teams shall be deployed while motorist’s road assistance centers are set at road points. The Chico River is one of the favorite picnic sites in the province.

Response teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Department of Public Works and Highway, local disaster teams and other volunteers are called for duty during the period.

As gleaned from the record of the Provincial Tourism Office, about 70,000 tourists have visited the province since the new normal   began   after two years of Covid-19 restrictions.

Meanwhile, residents who are leaving their homes for vacation are advised to properly check on safety and security measures. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
