PSA brings PhilSys IEC Campaign Roadshow in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office 1 (PSA-RSSO 1) staged the 2023 Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign Roadshow in this city on March 29.


Lawyer Sheila De Guzman, PSA-RSSO 1 regional director, said the roadshow aims to increase the awareness of the public on Republic Act (RA) No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act, and on the uses and benefits of PhilSys and PhilID on daily transactions.


She also emphasized the vital role of both the public and private sectors in the implementation of the law and promotion of said digital change to identity verification.


“Together, we can create a system of technological advancement to digital identification breaking the traditional method of validating identities,” De Guzman said.


She added, “Raising the bar of a highly secured and digitally sound system will give us concrete verification standards of identification.”


Around a hundred representatives from national government agencies, local government units, and the private sector in La Union participated in the roadshow.


Discussed were the salient features of RA 11055, PhilSys ID and PhilID Replacement, PhilSys Fraud Management Framework, Application Programming Interface (API)-enabled Authentication Services and Regulatory Onboarding, PhilSys Feedback and Grievance Mechanism, frequently asked questions for relying parties, and escalation process and for reports of non-acceptance of the PhilID.


Also, provided during the roadshow were orientations on Memorandum Circular No. 95 series of 2022, tackling the implementation and integration of PhilSys into government processes, databases, systems and services; and on PhilSys Integration Plan Template.


An open forum was staged to address the questions and other related concerns of the participants.


Further, also present during the roadshow were Emily Pagador, assistant national statistician of the Use Case Development and Management Service Division, and Lawyer Henedine Palabras, assistant national statistician of the Fraud Management and Client Management Service Division.


Pagador and Palabras both called for the participants to become multiplier of accurate and relevant information about the PhilSys and PhilID hence, promote the significance of the national ID not just to identity verification but as well as to the promotion of ease of doing business, enhancement of the integrity of services, and reduction of fraud.


Meanwhile, PSA is roaming around the country to conduct the PhilSys Roadshow, and the La Union leg is the second roadshow this year and the 8th since it started in 2022 in the entire country. (JCR/AMB/CGRC, PIA Region 1)
