CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- Despite the crisis being faced by the province due to the oil spill incident of MT Princess Empress, the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro continues to keep pace with rapid change in new technology by means of adopting e-LGU program using the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) mobile solutions to fast track services of the local government to people.
Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor and Vice Gov. Ejay Falcon recently signed in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UBX, the Philippines’ leading open finance platform that provides access to the widest network of financial institutions and solutions which coincide with the e-LGU Program through GPRS.
According to Dolor, Oriental Mindoro will be the first digital province in the country that will be run and managed by UBX.
Dolor said, while being strengthened by the local government its capacity to adopt digital transformation that would give the needed digital tools for finance, he assured that services of the government will be closer to the people in the community.
Using the e-LGU program, one is empowered with the ability to access key local government unit services at any time of the day.
The local chief executive said the use of the e-governance system will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of interaction between local authorities and stakeholders, thus the system brings transparency and accountability to the governance. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
