Parañaque joins Labor Day Jobs Fair, offers over 1k employment opportunities

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – A total of 1,540 job openings were provided during the Mega Jobs Fair conducted by the Parañaque City government on Monday, May 1, at SM City Sucat and SM City BF Parañaque.

The job generation initiative was part of the 121st Labor Day celebration in the city through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under the directive of Henry R. Leonardo.

According to City Mayor Eric L. Olivarez, 45 companies were able to conduct job recruitments in SM City Sucat while 31 companies participated in the SM City BF Parañaque job fair site.

At least 500 to 700 prospective applicants were anticipated to join the job-seeking activity in the local job fair.

More than 200 job seekers were reported to successfully complete their applications aside from those who were hired on the spot by employers.

Apart from the private participating companies, a total of 11 local and national government agencies also took part in the mega job fairs including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers, Radyo Trabaho (DZXL), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The local chief executive meanwhile expressed thanks to DOLE Muntilupa-Taguig-Parañaque-Las Piñas (MunTaParLas) Field Office led by Director Jun Castillon for its support to the delivery of job creation programs in the city.

The city government annually conducts a local job fair every month of February in line with its cityhood anniversary, every month of June during Independence Day, and every month of October.

This Mega Job Fair adds to the nationwide employment generation thrust of DOLE.

The theme of this year’s Labor Day is “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho para sa mga Manggagawang Pilipino.”  (PIA-NCR)
