CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--As a manifestation of support for the 121st Labor Day celebration, the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10 showcased their best Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs through skills demonstration, May 1, at SM CDO Downtown Premier, here.
TESDA-10 Assistant Regional Director Marigold Cherie R. Garrido said, "TVET skills are the gold collar, not anymore the blue collar, because most of our overseas Filipino workers (OFW) are National Certificate (NC) II holders and are contributing a lot to the growth of our economy."
For those interested in taking up the TVET program, TESDA is also offering TVET scholarships. For workers interested in upskilling or reskilling, they can enroll at TESDA.
It is free, and it has an allowance per day of P160, Garrido said.
During the 121st Labor Day opening ceremony, various government agencies expressed support.
Vivien M. Lawansa, management sector representative from the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, shared that Filipino workers are the unsung heroes of society.
"Let this be a reminder that each Filipino worker is not measured just in terms of productivity or cost in production but how resilient and how far we have progressed in ensuring the dignity of labor," she said.
The 121st Labor Day celebration hosted a mega job fair, Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, and a one-stop shop of government services for workers. (JMOR/PIA-10)
